Renewable Exchange is a UK-based PPA trading platform designed to simplify clean power sales. With real-time pricing insights, open access to offtakers, and integrated contract tools, it helps renewable energy generators monetise their power.
Starting point
Renewable Exchange needed a website and marketing collateral that reflected their approachable, people-first ethos while still conveying credibility in the energy trading space.

The challenge:
How could Renewable Exchange present itself as a credible platform without adopting the corporate visual language typical of the energy sector?

How we approached it

Renewable Exchange had worked with designers before, but the structure and visual direction lacked alignment. Rather than adjusting what was already there, we stepped back and returned to the foundations - clarifying what wasn’t working and defining how the brand should present itself moving forward.
01
Reseting the foundation
We began by stepping back and reworking the website structure - clarifying page hierarchy, user journeys, and content priorities to create a clearer foundation for the platform.
02
Defining the visual tone
We defined the overall visual direction of the website, balancing a friendly, human tone with the credibility expected in the energy sector.
03
Simplifying complexity through iconography
We developed a custom icon system to simplify complex information and make the platform easier to understand at a glance.
04
Building consistency across touchpoints
Once the website direction was established, we extended the visual system across marketing collateral - including sales decks, brochures, business cards, and trade show materials.

The Blooming Fern has taken our brand to the next level, creating a website design that looks amazing, and documents like slides, proposals, business cards and more. All of them create a modern, cohesive, beautiful brand, that the team all love. They're amazing at taking a brief and adding their personal touch to it. Working with them is extremely easy as they communicate really well, ask all the right questions, and work to their agreed timelines.
